Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Methodological Approaches to the Classification of Natural-Technological Emergencies Petrova E.G. This article examines the methodology for classifying natural-technological emergencies. The purposes, objects, and criteria of the classification are discussed. An overview of the main terms and concepts in the fi eld of safety in emergency situations of natural and technological origin, established by the relevant legislative acts and national standards of the Russian Federation, is provided. An analysis of existing classifications is carried out. The main parameters that can serve as criteria for classifying emergency situations are their territorial coverage (scale), causes and factors of formation, objects of impact of damaging factors, and the amount of damage caused. The author presents a classification scheme for naturaltechnological emergencies. Since emergencies of the type under consideration are characterized by a complex nature, both natural factors in the formation of emergencies and infrastructure facilities exposed to the impact of these natural factors were used as criteria for their classification.
