This article describes the synthesis of several new metal complex compounds, where the central complexing atom is an essential
microelement present in the human body: cobalt, zinc, or copper. Substances with potential biological activity were used as ligands:
1,10-phenanthroline, mandelic acid, 1,5-disulfonaphthalene, ethylenediamine, 2,6-diaminopyridine, and citric acid. When embedded in a
framework of biologically active ligands, the resulting metal complexes not only become environmentally safe but can also serve as vehicles
for delivering these microelements into biological environments.
The structure of all the resulting metal complexes was confirmed by elemental and X-ray diffraction analysis, as well as IR spectroscopy.
3D models of the metal complexes are provided.
Keywords: metal complexes, cobalt, copper, zinc, 1,10-phenanthroline, citric acid, trace elements.
