Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Spontaneous Dissemination of Plant Species in the Main Botanical Garden Named after N.V. Tsitsin of the RAS (I) Shvetsov A.N., Saodatova R.Z. Cultivating plants for utilitarian, aesthetic, and educational purposes is a human cultural phenomenon. Botanical gardens are one element of this culture. Therefore, the complex of issues associated with plant cultivation should be considered broadly — including the impact of this cultural (humanitarian) need on nature and its contribution to the biodiversity of regions and continents. In recent years, increased attention has been paid to some of the negative consequences of the introduction of new "alien" species into natural landscapes. Researchers believe that botanical gardens and plant growing in general are the source of such species. The aim of this study is to examine the structure of the dispersal processes of introduced plant species across the Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The "Flora of Eastern Europe" exhibition identifi ed 79 native and adventive regional plant species. Among them, 52 species are "European" collection plants, 17 species are introduced or unintentionally introduced from other collections, and another 10 species are regional adventives.
