Anthropogenic Factors Enhance Channel Processes
in Small urban River Valleys (Casestudy of the Source
of the Chertanovka River in Moscow) |
Petrova E.G., Chernomorets S.S.
River systems in urbanized areas are subject to the influence of both natural and anthropogenic factors. Anthropogenic intensification of
flood runoff and alterations to the geomorphological regime within the urban environment accelerate channel and erosion processes. This
article examines these issues using the example of the Chertanovka River in Moscow, which is currently undergoing intense valley incision
accompanied by active erosion and the periodic occurrence of debris-flow-like floods.
Keywords: urban rivers, Chertanovka, anthropogenic factors, storm rainfall, river valley incision, erosion processes, debris-fl ow-like flood.
