LONG-TERM CHANGES OF BLOOD ANTIOXIDANT ENZYME ACXTIVITIES IN SCORPION FISH FROM SEVASTOPOL BAY IN THE PERIOD OF 2001–2004 |

Trace elements in muscles and antioxidant enzyme activities in blood of Black Sea scorpion fish ( Scorpaena porcus L.) caught in Sevastopol Bay in the period of 2001–2004 were studied. The level of Zn and Cu in fish tissues varied more significantly than the content of Hg, As, Pb and Cd. Enzyme activities in blood was changed more than pollutants level. The obtained results demonstrate the success of antioxidant enzyme system parameters application as biomarkers in ecotoxicological studies and monitoring programs.
