The results of a comparative study of a number of biochemical characteristics of fruits of new introduced varieties of edible honeysuckle – Aurora, Honeybee, Indigo Gem, Wojtek and Zojka and the zoned variety Leningradsky velikan (a reference for comparison) in the southern agro-climatic zone of Belarus in the contrasting hydrothermal seasons of 2021 and 2022 are presented. It was found that the reduced and very irregular temperature background of the second season during the formation of fruits contributed to their enrichment in comparison with the first season with free organic acids and ascorbic acid in the absence of changes in the content of hydroxycinnamic acids, with reduction of dry and pectin substances, soluble sugars and a decrease in the sugar acid index.
The positive influence of the hydrothermal regime of the second season on the totality of the biochemical characteristics of fruits in the varieties Leningrad Giant and Wojtek and the negative influence on it in the varieties Aurora and Zojka, the Honey bee variety has the most pronounced resistance to this factor.
Keywords: weather conditions, edible honeysuckle, varieties, fruits, organic acids, soluble sugars, pectins.
